Ponyo Sound Redesign

For my final project, I used a one-minute and twelve-second clip from the 2008 animated film Ponyo by Studio Ghibli and downloaded it into Reaper. I gathered uncopyrighted sound clips to add sound effects and compression to multiple clips in order to control the dynamic range of sounds that I felt were varying in volume. I also recorded my voice and my friend’s voice for the character dialogue and I increased the pitch and lowered the level to make us sound more childlike. The overall tone was meant to be fun and playful with a touch of curiosity from the audience watching.

Falling in Love Alone Kinetic Text

For my Motion Graphics class, I decided to use the song Falling in Love Alone by Stacey Ryan to create a lyric video using kinetic text on Adobe After Effects. I tried connecting the graphics/images to the lyrics themselves and bright colors to emphasize the playfulness of the beats. I loved experimenting with the key frames and trying out different layouts until I felt that the text matched up with what I imagined the song if it were a visual piece.

The Simpsons Title Sequence

For my Motion Graphics class, I recreated the title sequence to The Simpsons on Adobe After Effects with the icons and backgrounds created on Adobe Illustrator. I learned a lot about timing and positioning through this assignment and got to use a lot of aspects of both platforms in a cohesive way. This project took about a month to complete.
